Agee News

  • The Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra, the University of Tennessee Orchestra, and the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra performed Kenton Coe's Music for James Agee during the 2004-05 season. This suite, drawn from the film score for the Academy Award Nominated film AGEE, is arranged for oboe and string orchestra.

    Scores and parts for the music may be purchased from the composer by Email to kcoe4@aol.com. Two other versions of the work are also available: for oboe and organ, and for alto saxophone and string quartet.




  • Deedee Agee is a writer following in the footsteps of her father, and her Web site, www.DeedeeAgee.com, contains many of her works.




  • The University of Tennessee at Knoxville sponsored a conference in April, 2005, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the death of James Agee. The conference will feature films, papers, concerts, photo exhibits and much more. For more information contact Lynn Champion at (865) 974-4676.




  • Chaplin and Agee: The Untold Story of the Tramp, the Writer, and the Lost Screenplay, a book about the connections of Charles Chaplin to the life and work of James Agee, was published in 2005 by the author John Wranovics.
